The echinacea, also known as the purple coneflower, can be found in both the tall grass prairies and the eastern deciduous forests of Missouri. There are many medical uses of this flower, one common use is a tea to boost the immune system as well as fighting infection by increasing the number of white blood cells produced. It also heals wounds with acid glycoside, and it has the power to reduce fevers. Also, a tincture can be made from the roots and used as a mouthwash to treat sore throats.
